19th Winter Methodology School at NSTU January 25th – 26th, 2024
Territorial Professional Group “Novelty” and Foreign Languages Department for Engineering Faculties at Novosibirsk State Technical University are glad to invite you for the participation in the 19th Winter Methodology School which is being held at NSTU on January 25th – 26th, 2024, devoted to the cultural aspects of teaching and learning English.
The participation in the conference is free.
The key invited Moscow speakers of the conference are Svetlana A. Suchkova and Evgeniya A. Dyakonova, experienced Russian Teachers’ trainers.
Svetlana Suchkova is an associate professor, teacher trainer, and materials developer. Currently, she directs the Academic Writing Center at the Higher School of Economics (HSE University), Moscow. She holds a Ph.D. degree in philology. She authored and co-authored a number of EFL course books for Russian university students and researchers, among them English for Academics series (CUP, 2014, 2015) and How to Write a Research Article (Nauka, 2020). She has participated at numerous national and international conferences with presentations and workshops, used to edit Scopus-indexed The Journal of AsiaTEFL. Her areas of expertise are academic writing, writing for research and publication purposes, public speaking, and teacher training. She is also a teacher trainer and Cambridge ESOL examiner.

Plenary talk “How to make your students hate writing”
The presenter invites participants to discuss what makes writing skills challenging to students and how the teacher can facilitate students’ skill development. Among the topics to be discussed are approaches to teaching writing, the teacher’s roles, and (in)effective strategies and techniques.

На встрече спикеры продемонстрируют возможности интерактивного авторского инструмента «ЭТЮД» для стимулирования и развития монологической и диалогической спонтанной устной речи. Использование этого инструмента поможет вашим ученикам (любого возраста и статуса) преодолеть СТРАХ говорения на английском языке!
